Manolo Blahnik nació en las Islas Canarias, hijo de madre española y padre checo. Su familia tenía un negocio farmacéutico en Praga y un plantío de plátanos en España.
Thanks to his perseverance and the recognition of his talent, Manolo Blahnik is now one of the shoe craftsmanship’s icons worldwide.
Manolo Blahnik was born in the Canary Islands, to a Spanish mother and a Czech father. His family owned a pharmaceutical business in Prague and a banana plantation in Spain.

Blahnik estudió idiomas y arte en la Universidad de Ginebra antes de mudarse a Paris en 1965 a estudiar arte y diseño teatral.

Blahnik viaja a Nueva York en 1970 y conoce a Diana Vreeland editora en jefe de Vogue América quien al ver sus dibujos se enfocó en los zapatos y le dijo que se olvidara de la ropa que debería hacer accesorios.
Blahnik aprendió el arte de hacer zapatos visitando diferentes fábricas y perfecciona su estilo aprendiendo de los maestros fabricantes de zapatos de Londres, donde abriría su primera tienda en 1973.
Blahnik traveled to New York in 1970 and met Diana Vreeland, editor in chief of American Vogue, who saw his sketches and focused on the shoes and told him to forget about clothes and that he should design accessories.
Blahnik learned the art of making shoes by visiting shoe factories and he perfected his craftsmanship and style learning from the London shoe masters. He then will open his first store there in London in 1973.
